The 20 minute Canberra Highlights Helicopter Flight is the best bang-for-buck chopper flight in Canberra. Taking you from Hall to the city, you'll get the perfect vantage point into the heart of the nation's capital.
WEEKEND FLIGHTS ONLY
1. Depart from Hall
Departing from Hall near the NSW border, you'll be taken south toward the city. The first thing you'll notice is the National Dinosaur Museum!
2. University of Canberra
As you fly over Lake Ginninderra, you'll notice the University of Canberra and the Australian Institute of Sports.
3. Black Mountain
Right before the main event heading into the city, you'll fly over Black Mountain and the Botanic Gardens. A prominent landmark you'll notice is Telstra Tower on the summit of the mountain.
4. Lake Burley Griffin
As your chopper ventures past Black Mountain and the Glenloch Interchange, you have arrived at Lake Burley Griffin! On the Western end of the lake, you can see the National Zoo & Aquarium, and also the Royal Canberra Golf Club. When you reach the lake, your pilot will take you east along the lake into the heart of the city.
5. Anzac Parade
Heading towards City Hill, you'll soon arrive over Anzac Parade; the main strip of Canberra. Looking down, you'll be able to see most of the landmarks Canberra has to offer, including:
- Old & New Parliament House,
- The High Court of Australia,
- the National Library of Australia,
- National Museum,
- The list goes on...
6. The War Memorial
On the eastern end of the Lake, your pilot will take you near the Jerrabomberra Wetlands Nature Reserve. From here, the chopper will head back over Mount Ainslie and the War Memorial.
7. Touchdown at Hall
Finalising the flight is the trip back to base. The journey back will take you over Lyneham and the northern suburbs of Canberra.
